THE PROLIFIC ..

Another amount of hours spent making wet colored stuff dry resulted in another painting being completed in the middle of the night...The Prolific....This 16x20 inch piece was painted onto a reclaimed wooden board with spray paint and acrylics..A signed original that's currently up for grabs from my store HERE ..

THINKING CAPS..

Several late nights of smudging white and black paint around with a hairy stick a few weeks ago resulted in this painting being painted..Full of textures and drips, this 1 meter by 80cm canvas was started without any real plan and quickly turned into something that was going to take a long time. After recently painting up some custom spray cans where the characters had drippy paint faces, I decided to explore this idea a little more..This was almost abandoned a few times during it's process, as it took a while for it to take shape and more than once paint dried the wrong shade of grey or a drip didn't run right and annoyed my cat. 

As with every painting, hours were spent in deep concentration and things got learnt!. When focused and "in the zone" it feels like your minds somewhere else for a while, even though it's busy trying to make paint dry in all the right places and remember how it did it.. Once certain things were figured out this piece eventually became more fun to work on and I'll definitely try out this style of painting again.

Amazingly (for me) this painting has already sold and it's nice to know it's gone to a good home, in good company where there's already some of my work :) 

GOT PRINTS?..  

 After receiving some interest in this piece after posting pictures on my social media, I promised a few people that there would be a print option.. The first A3 test prints came out well which I picked up yesterday, so... 

If you'd like a signed copy of "Thinking Caps" there are some now available from the store. HERE..  Printed on quality, thick,  heavyweight, archival slightly textured paper ( which looks more like an original piece than a glossy poster print ).. Size A3 , signed and numbered.. limited to 50 pieces worldwide..

THE CAN SOLO SAGA CONTINUES..star wars spray can sculptures

Some of you may remember previous framed editions of  Can Solo that have been put out over the last 2 years..Well, new to the store today are these spray can versions of Can Solo, who was captured for crimes of vandalism and imprisoned to stay up forever. 

Kitbashed / sculpted onto empty spray cans before painting, these 20cm tall models are one of  kind pieces that give a nod to that well known scene from that science fiction thing we alll love called Star Wars..

Each can has been burst open and depressurized making them acceptable to post overseas..This also allows the wire to be fed through the hole (which is detachable for postage reasons) and tucked under his nozzle face easily, with as little or as much slack as you'd like..

SPEAK LESS BUT SAY MORE

Seems as though a lot of so called art these days has to have a paragraph to explain why it's any good..I've never been a fan of the sort of stuff that needs explaining..If you look at it and like it, that should be enough without having to read a paragraph to decide..So this paragraph is an attempt to explain why I'd rather paint and create stuff without having to explain what I was thinking or why I felt the need to do it. Speak less but say more... I could have waffled on about a bit more about it's context and meaning, the many techniques used to paint this, the years of character development it's taken to freestyle this on canvas, but there's other writing I need to include below so I'll just skip to that..

  Measuring 16x40 inches, this piece was painted across two 16x20 canvasses which can be displayed with or without a small gap in between..Created with spray paint and acrylics, this piece took several late nights to contemplate and complete, and was finally finished, photographed and made available from the store today.. 

Featuring that guy "the Maskedman" silencing a loud mouthed Maaadcan that's plugged into his skull king mask, and my little cat apprentice "Dog" who goes out every night to mark our territory.

THE CAN CONTROLLER pt2 featuring one of those MAAADCANS..

This double canvas piece was painted a few weeks ago after spending a lot of time focusing on those Maaadcans..Painted mostly with acrylics and some spray paint, this signed original is now up in my store HERE.... Each canvas measures 12 x 9 inches and has been clear coated with a satin lacquer..
